What's this all about?

Hi, my name is Tom Roberts. Welcome to my blog. I'm cycling along the less traveled routes from the most southern point of Africa to the most northern point of the United Kingdom in aid of Rhino Conservation. As part of my trip I'm making a television documentary. I invite you to join me.

Eastern Free State, South Africa

I've spent the last few days travelling in the Eastern Free State along the border with Lesotho and what an experience it as been. I had visited this area a few time in the distant past and knew that it was pretty spectacular but I was still stunned by what I found. The best way to describe it is Scotland on steroids, for those of you that know the Highlands of Scotland.
The following photo's don't do it justice sadly, but it at least gives an idea.

The crazy B&B where I stayed in Smithfield.

I met this little lass at the above B&B, she really fancied joining me on my trip but her boss Johann felt she was too young!

The Swiss couple I met a week ago Johann and Chantel who have cycled from Switzerland through Africa.

I'm currently on route to Swaziland where I plan to spend Xmas before heading to the beach in Mozambique to chill out and enjoy the most fantastic seafood this planet has to offer, and you never know I might even be tempted to try a few beers.......
